Is It TRUE What They Are Saying 'Bout Radnor Township?
|
...No not that it is one of the best places to live. So can it be said that while purportedly, Radnor Township has among the most stringent of student housing ordinances enacted by a previous iteration of the Board of Commissioners, that Radnor has the most lame enforcement? Are student rental housing inspectors doing their job in Radnor Township? If culpability starts at the top does that mean that we need to start with the man with the tan? How proactive is a guy named Robert F. Loeper, Jr., the Director of Community Development/Zoning? If neighbors are complaining about student rentals in Radnor, who is responsible? Who is responsible for enforcement? Some of the worst offenders are houses on Brook, Glenbrook, Bryn Mawr Ave, Garrett Ave, Wentworth and Callanan...and that is just the 5th and 7th wards...there are MANY other streets that suffer from legal and illegal student homes. Like in Wayne? Both sides of Lancaster Ave? It's not like the commissioners in Radnor are NOT aware - they ARE aware of these issues. But the commissioners depend upon Radnor Township Staff to be proactive. (Sources in Haverford and Lower Merion Townships express more confidence in the inspectors in those two townships, so we're not discussing them) So why is it that if you are a full time resident in Radnor who owns property or are even a long term rental resident your rights seem diluted on this topic? Why does Radnor make a resident swear out an affidavit available for public perusal if they have a problem with a student rental? We all know Radnor has issues with sunshine, but what do you want to bet that Radnor lets people see these documents RIGHT away? Why is the burden of proof on residents? Is it so landlords of problematic student rentals get advance notice? Can't you picture it? Then when Radnor student rental inspectors go to inspect do they then find Ward and June Cleaver not Animal House? Huh? Radnor Township shares a few notorious student rental emperors with Haverford and Lower Merion Township. If Haverford and Lower Merion are really trying to stay on top of this, how about Radnor? What the heck is Radnor doing? Radnor Township in their own Comprehensive Plan Update states there are issues which need to be addressed...including student housing? What the heck are they waiting for? More residents showing up at public meetings basically saying something funky is going on? Does funky need to be elaborated? Man, it's not rocket science, but it might mean using taxpayer funded gas in taxpayer funded vehicles for work for a change, eh? Are all these listings legitimate? Are all these listings legitimate? Has Radnor Township ever looked at the student rental ads on Craigs List? It's not rocket science, is it? Bookmark/Search this post with: |
