Main Liners are all aboard when it comes to transit issues
By Cheryl Allison

From routes and schedules to maintenance and track work, questions at a "transit summit" recently in Lower Merion Township touched on all those topics. If there were two general themes, though, they were these:

Service. Residents want more of it, especially in these times when people are looking for options to avoid high gas prices.

And being a good neighbor. With tracks running literally in residents' back yards in so many Main Line communities, neighbors want transit providers to find ways to balance their needs for safety, security and smooth running with the quality of life needs of the neighborhoods they pass through.

U.S. Rep. Jim Gerlach (R-6), who serves on the House of Representatives' Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, organized the summit, held Oct. 2 at the Township Building.
