A Senior casts her vote for the Barnes
|
Here is the opening of an op-ed piece that appears in today's Main Line Life regarding the election of a new Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This election day is the first opportunity to let Tom Corbett know what we think about his support for the dismantling of the Barnes Foundation. Here is one woman's opinion on the matter: A seasoned senior casts her vote for the Barnes By Ethel Kauffman I am a registered Republican and have been all of my long adult life. This year, however, I have a very compelling reason to support Democrat John Morganelli for Pennsylvania Attorney General. I want to see Tom Corbett - current Attorney General and a Republican - soundly defeated. The reason? Tom Corbett's utter failure to protect the Barnes Foundation in Merion as a site of historical and cultural significance that rightfully belongs to the people of this Commonwealth and the nation. That he is part of this wasteful destruction of a national treasure is bad enough. That he is doing so when more than $100,000,000 in hard-earned, taxpayer money is at stake during these perilous financial times makes it even worse. link to the full story in Main Line Life: Bookmark/Search this post with: |

Sorry, I just do not buy that this guy is doing anything other than surf votes off your membership. Where was John Morganelli BEFORE he decided to run for AG? Was he attending your meetings, lending support?
I don't see this guy getting back the Barnes, even if he does beat out Corbett. Don't let yourselves be used by politicians. Speeches are just pretty words, what has this guy done except make a speech on the steps of the Barnes? What has this guy done for you?
You should use this economic crisis to your advantage and see how it has affected the Barnes bottom line, huh? Maybe see how this economic crisis is affecting the big donors who have pledged money to move the Barnes?
If the money dries up, where does this plan go? Follow the money, not politicians running for office.
