Despicable Act of Cowardice and Hatred
|
So what about this incident of hatred? Swastikas painted on the pavement in front of a synagogue in Penn Valley? Are we so accustomed to hatred and vile behavior in our communities that the media did not consider this newsworthy? Whoever did this is the lowest of the low. It’s not funny. It’s mean, it’s hateful, and it’s sick. This is the worst kind of graffiti. I almost wish this wasn't true and that the report was a mistake, don't you? The first question you have to ask is whether the media was made aware of it through police reports that are supposed to be public records. Lower Merion has a habit of not releasing full daily police logs as they are required to do by law. Not pointing fingers at anyone - just stating a fact.
I just hope this was some misguided kids (not that youth excuses this dispicable behavior), that the police get them, and that they can learn the error of their ways and can be rehabilitated. What would be really scary is if adults did this. That takes it to a whole other level that should never, ever be tolerated. I would call this a "gateway" crime to further hate crimes by the criminal(s) who did this.
Nobody should have to live in fear for exersizing any right in this country, whether it be religion, free speech or whatever. Likewise, every private citizen should be treated fairly and equally within the community even if they are not exercing a write, though anyone who opens themselves up to public discourse opens themselves up to criticism.
