TOWNSHIP OF LOWER MERION
Office of the Township Manager
MEMORANDUM
TO: President and Members of the Board of Commissioners
FROM: Douglas S. Cleland, Township Manager
SUBJECT: Ardmore Transit Center and Business District Revitalization
DATE: November 30, 2007
On November 28th and 29th, the Economic Revitalization Committee conducted interviews with the five development teams that submitted proposals for the Ardmore Transit Center and Business District Revitalization Project. The interviews consisted of presentations by each developer and questions from the Board and from the public. The development teams were led by EBL&S Development, Dranoff Properties, BET Investments, Strategic Realty Investments, and Mariner Commercial Properties.
On December 5th, the Economic Revitalization Committee will begin deliberations on the selection of a development team(s). Staff is recommending the following process for discussion. The Chair of the Economic Revitalization Committee will invite each Commissioner to briefly express his/her initial thoughts, comments, preferences, and/or the need for additional information. Commissioners will be asked to refrain from making any motions at this time. Following these comments, the Chair will invite comments from the public with a three minute time limit per speaker. Staff suggests that the Committee attempt to conclude the public comment portion of the meeting no later than 10:30 p.m.
At the conclusion of the Public Comment, the Committee, if ready, could begin deliberations possibly resulting in a motion or series of motions for consideration by the Board at its stated meeting on December 19th.
Ultimately, it is recommended that the Board approve a development team(s) with whom to enter into negotiations for the master development of approved projects of the Ardmore Transit Center and Business District Revitalization.
